Many families could use a little extra, outside help to keep kids on track, explain new concepts, or edit an essay. That’s why we are continuing our program for your children to access free, online academic tutoring for most K-12 subjects.

The Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program

FEEA thanks the Federal Long-Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP) for sponsoring the launch of this program, and the BlueCross BlueShield Association and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield for enabling us to support more federal families.

FLTCIP was established by Congress in 2000 and is overseen by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. The FLTCIP knows that many families are struggling right now trying to balance work and school, and that some children may be falling behind. At its core, the FLTCIP is about helping federal family members prepare for the future. Who is Eligible?

Children in grades K-12 of current, regular hire, federal civilian and postal employees who earn a full-time equivalent annual salary of under $95,000 per year.

Coast Guard and Department of Defense civilians should access tutoring through this link: Visit the Military Site  (On a phone/small screen, you will need to look all the way to the right under the image to find and click the last box “DoD Civilians”)

If your salary is over the cap or you are not a regular hire federal employee, you can access tutor.com services for a fee via this link: Visit Tutor.com

If you meet our program requirements, you can apply now. Please submit only one application and do not create your own account on Tutor.com. It may take up to 10 business days for your application to be processed and your credentials emailed to you if you are approved.

How does it work?

FEEA partners with Tutor.com, a service of the Princeton Review to provide the online tutoring. Once you registered and are approved by FEEA you will be given one login for all of your children to share to access the Tutor.com platform and meet with tutors. Sign up today if you think you might want to use the service in the future. It can take up to 5 business days after registration with FEEA for Tutor.com to email your credentials. You never know when your child might want that extra help for a test or a project.

At Tutor.com, students can get personalized help in most K-12 subjects. Every tutoring session is anonymous and takes place in a secure online classroom.

College Planning: A self-paced admissions portal gives students comprehensive admissions support with checklists, application trackers, calendar planning, expert feedback on essays, and test prep materials.

Coaching Sessions for Parents: Scheduling and Organization, Setting Expectation, Studying Techniques, Using Resources, Motivation and Goals, Managing Knowledge Gaps, Finding Balance.

Participants in this program also have access to a library of lessons, worksheets, study guides, videos and practice quizzes on a variety of subjects as well on college and state level standardized tests.

Is there a limit to the number of sessions?

Yes. The current limit is 1,000 minutes (about 16 hours total) per family, regardless of the number of eligible children in the family. Each session used by a student in your family will debit your available minutes based on the length of the session. There will be a handy counter on your family’s Tutor.com login page keeping track of available minutes. If your family reaches 1,000 total minutes of tutoring before the end of the school year, you will no longer be able to start sessions with tutors, but you will still be able to access the free tools available on Tutor.com. We anticipate offering tutoring through the end of the current school year, or June 30, 2025.

  2. Presenting the work of others.The student will present work for review that is the student’s own work and not work that has been plagiarized.
  3. Acknowledging the contributions of others.When work the student is presenting includes the contribution of others, the student will make every effort to attribute that work to the original author or to seek assistance in doing so.
  4. Completing the work.The student works with tutors to achieve understanding of the material presented rather than expecting or requesting tutors to complete the assignment or provide answers.
  5. Students will engage in a respectful manner with each tutor with whom the student is interacting just as the student has the right to expect to be treated respectfully.
