Who is eligible?
Children in grades K-12 of current, regular hire, federal civilian and postal employees who earn a full-time equivalent annual salary of under $95,000 per year.
Coast Guard and Department of Defense civilians should access tutoring through this link: https://military.tutor.com/home (On a phone/small screen, you will need to look all the way to the right under the image to find and click the last box “DoD Civilians”)

I just applied. What happens next?
It can take up to 10 business days for your application to be processed. If we have questions or need additional documentation, we will contact you at the personal email you included in your application. Approved applications are uploaded to Tutor.com once per week and you’ll get an email directly from Tutor.com (again, at the personal email address included on your application) to let you know you can log in. Please keep an eye out for the email from Tutor.com (check your spam!).
If it has been more than 10 days since you applied and you haven’t heard from either FEEA or Tutor.com, you can try logging in at tutor.com/feea using your personal email and the temporary password “Feeatutor85!”. If your account can’t be found, please send us an email at fedshelpingfeds@feea.org.
How do I get help with technical issues on Tutor.com?
You can request help from Tutor.com by opening a support ticket at https://www.tutor.com/contact-forms/individual-account.aspx
Why is there a salary limit? Can I still get tutoring for my kids if I’m above the cap?
As with many charity programs, FEEA’s tutoring program has limited resources to cover the cost of tutoring sessions, so we are doing our best to make sure lower income feds get served first. For the 2024-25 program, our salary limit is $94,999, but that may not always be possible. Please note that locality pay, if you receive any, is included in the calculation of your annual salary for this program.
If you are over the salary cap, you can’t get tutoring through FEEA’s program, but you can sign up for an individual account with Tutor.com, where you will pay for your tutoring sessions directly.
Is there a limit to the number of sessions my family can use?
Yes. The current limit is 1,000 minutes (about 16 hours total) per family, regardless of the number of eligible children in your family. Each session used by a student in your family will debit your available minutes based on the length of the session. There will be a handy counter on your family’s Tutor.com login page keeping track of available minutes, so you should always know how much tutoring time is still available to you. If your family reaches 1,000 total minutes of tutoring before the end of the school year, you will no longer be able to start sessions with tutors, but you will still be able to access the free tools available on Tutor.com. We anticipate offering tutoring through the current school year, or June 30, 2025.

Can my child talk to the tutor using audio?
Yes! Just be sure to check the box for “Chat + Voice” before you start your session. Selecting the “Chat Only” option means the student will type back-and-forth with their tutor, without audio.
Can I schedule a session for a future date?
Yes! Instead of clicking “Connect” on your home screen, click “Schedule” to plan a future session. Please note: Scheduling a future session is best used if you want to work with a particular tutor again and need it to be on a set day/time. If you can’t make a scheduled session for any reason, be sure to cancel it ahead of time! No-showing for scheduled sessions will result in that option being removed from your account.
Can I share my login with others?
In a word, NO. Your login is for you and your registered child(ren) only. FEEA’s funding for this program is limited and we need to ensure all of the registered families can access tutoring when they need it. Please do not share your login information with anyone other than your registered child(ren). We do periodic audits of program usage and reserve the right to suspend the account of anyone we believe is abusing its intended use.
What’s with the consent form?
The first time you sign in to your Tutor.com account, you’ll see a consent form asking if any children under the age of 13 will be using the account and indicating you give permission for them to access all available services. This form allows Tutor.com to meet their obligations to the COPPA laws since many children under the age of 13 are accessing the service through these accounts.
