It’s Fire Prevention Week and FEEA wants you and your loved ones to be safe in your home. The U.S. Fire Administration has a variety of resources for educating yourself, including helpful flyers for home and apartment fire safety.

In addition to putting smoke alarms on every level of your home and both inside and outside all sleeping areas, it’s also important to remember to test at least once per year and change batteries when needed. All smoke alarms should be replaced after 10 years, even if they still work.

If you do experience a house or apartment fire, FEEA’s disaster relief program may be able to assist with some uninsured repairs or temporary lodging expenses.
