Karen M. Rainey
Karen M. Rainey was installed on July 19, 2018 as the 24th National President of Federally Employed Women (FEW). She has over a decade of federal service experience and currently works as Information Technology Specialist Lead with the Department of Treasury, Internal Revenue Service (IRS). In this position, she is responsible for providing a secure and sustainable environment for various tax systems and financial applications on a variety of information technology platforms.
Karen is a lifetime member of the Great Lakes Region and the Motor City Chapter of FEW. Academically, she has earned a Bachelors and Masters of Science degree in Computer and Information Systems from the University of Detroit Mercy and she is a 2015 graduate of the Modernized & Information Technology Services (MITS) Front Line Readiness Program (FLRP) at the IRS. Additionally, Karen utilizes her education and experience to add valuable programs in FEW’s catalog of equity and diversity training and supply a level of excellence with her project management and leadership strategic skills.
Karen’s passion is working with non-profit organizations to assist those who seek a fair and equitable chance to help themselves. She travels across the country helping to audiences understand FEW’s compliance, diversity and training programs. Ultimately, she works to support her vision for FEW’s membership of “Soaring to New Heights” through education and cooperative business relationships in support of their federal career. Above all, Karen utilizes her talents as an advocate for women and inclusion of a broader diverse talent pool to achieve greater opportunities within our local, state and federal Agencies.
