With sunny days and summer heat across much of the country, the team at FEEA is thinking about fun things to do in our off hours and thought we’d share a few. Double check your local weather at http://www.weather.gov by entering your zip code and then check our ideas below for some low- or no-cost options for summer fun!

  1. Head outside for a walk, hike, bike ride, or picnic – you can choose a trail or neighborhood in your community, or see what’s on offer at nearby state and national parks. Visit the National Park Service or go to http://www.stateparks.org to find parks and camping near you.
  2. Heat too high for outdoor activities? Check out programs at your local library! Many libraries offer special summer programs, like story time for kids, book clubs for various ages, or classes and discussions for adults. Use this list to find public library resources in your state.
  3. Hit the beach or local pool! Enjoy the sun, sand, and water at your local swimming hole, or check out Wikipedia’s list of U.S. beaches. The EPA also has helpful information about health and safety at the beach.

Stay safe and hydrated and enjoy the summer fun!
