NARFE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
In its first two years, the FEEA/NARFE program awarded $45,000 in scholarships. For the 2000-01,
01-02 and 02-03 school years, NARFE awarded five $1,000 scholarships in each of its 10 regions
for a total of $50,000. In 2003-04, NARFE increased its awards to six $1,000 scholarships in each of
its regions, for a total of $60,000.  The program has awarded a total of $310,000 in scholarships to
the children and grandchildren of NARFE members.

Eligibility
  • Only children or grandchildren of members of the National Association of Retired Federal
    Employees may apply
  • Applicants to the FEEA/NARFE Scholarship Fund compete on the basis of merit alone.
    Financial information is not sought from applicants or retiree sponsors
  • Applicants must be high school seniors planning to enroll in a two- or four-year post-
    secondary, accredited undergraduate degree program
  • Applicants must have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale

Application Requirements
  • A completed copy of the NARFE Scholarship application form. The application is printed in
    the February, March and April issues of RETIREMENT LIFE, which is mailed to all NARFE
    members.
  • A complete transcript of the student's grades, including the most recent fall/winter semester,
    submitted with the application package. Photocopies are acceptable.
  • A written recommendation/character reference for the applicant, submitted with the
    application, from a supervisor/coworker, community leader, teacher or counselor.
  • An essay, not to exceed two typed, double-spaced pages, on a different topic each year
    (topic indicated on application).
  • Copies of ACT or SAT or other entrance examination scores as applicable.
