CHILDCARE PROGRAMS
For the past five years, FEEA has been involved in helping agencies provide Childcare Tuition
Assistance to lower-income federal employees.  FEEA has watched agency commitment to such
programs increase over 200%; from $1.6 million in subsidies paid through FEEA in 2001, to $5.3
million by the end of the 2005 fiscal year. FEEA currently provides administrative program services
to more than 15 federal agencies.

Participating agencies know that helping to relieve the childcare burden for their lower-income
employees can raise productivity and increase retention. Each agency decides whether or not to
have a program and who administers the program.  Ask your HR office if your agency has a
program and, if not, encourage them to start one soon. Information about starting a program and
implementation guidelines are available on
OPM’s web site.
